Finding the Seevumo

Uncovering the history of the Seevumo has been a bit more difficult than I had hoped for. Their beginnings are fairly simple to figure out.

Back during Khadija’s Transmutation Day a Zealot group who worshiped the “Old Gods” as the Khadijians described then. Called the Consuming of the crystals to change their form, blasphemy against the Saints. Not wanting to forsake their gods, this group of people decided to descend further into the cave systems of Khalashiri Mountains. After that the Khadijians have no record of them, all they know is that a few years later a group of grotesque looking humanoids came crawling out of the darkness.

In my research it appears that while the way they transformed has been currently lost to us, we can at least make a few inferences about how their new forms came to be. The Khalshiri Mines and Caves are so saturated with magic that Crystals of Pure Magic can form inside of them.

This leads me to believe that there may be enough magic seeping into the air to begin to slowly morph the body. The Seevumo seemed to have almost accelerated their mutations by descending deeper into the caves and with having no food, eating other mutated creatures.

Their bodies mutated to fit their new environment. Their skin turned pale and gray, beginning to sag. Their arms and legs grew in length, growing a new joining somewhere along the way to assist in their climbing along the cave walls. Their fingers became long and spindly to help reach inside small cracks and crevices to find food.

While all of that may scare you if it crawls out of the darkness the one thing that got me was their lack of a face. Even the Khadijians had some form of eyes made out of crystals. The Seevumo, though, they have small divests in their faces where they would have eyes and a mouth, while their noses and ears were flat to their faces.

The first time I encountered one I damn near fainted. I saw it crawling out in the distance from my lantern light. It didn’t appear to have seen or heard me yet so I covered my light and hid. I was going to wait till it passed. I had heard that some of them were prone to attacking indiscriminately. Then after some time passed I began to hear some noises. It sounded like a low guttural growling. Then a voice pierced into my brain.

“LEAVE THIS PLACE NOW”

As I heard the voice the Seevumo began to chase after me on all fours. As I turned a corner it began to run on the wall. It was tracking me with the precision of a spider finding a fly in its web.

After a while I stopped running off of memory and lit my lantern again. Once the flame was lit I heard a shrieking pierce my mind as I saw the creature properly for the first time, before it ran off into the darkness. After that I returned to the nearest Khadijain safe zone to recuperate. These beings seemed to be able to communicate telepathically to other beings, as well as have some basic form of life sense or magic sense to find their prey. If I wanted to find out more about their race I would have to descend deeper. Though I wasn’t sure what I was going to be able to find. Most of their history would be about these Zealots and that wasn’t the job I was working on right now. Instead I decided to call it for now and return to Khalsh and ask a friend of mine there to gather information for me on the Zealots for when I could next return to do some research on what happened to them.

Now I’m going to make my way to Siradin, one of the most magically saturated places with one of the strangest races I have ever seen.
